Weblog Usability: The Top Ten Design Mistakes

I'm working on a literature review for one of my classes this semester that also happens to be a BIG project at work. I've come across the name Jakob Nielsen a lot so tonight I decided to check out his web site, useit.com. Of particular interest to my blogger friends will be his top ten design mistakes for blog usability. I'm certainly guilty of some of these...and it's got me seriously considering switching the LiveJounal.com...

You are embarking on a really interesting topic. A similar project got me very passionate about usability some time ago.

As you travel through the loads of usability advice out there, it is important to ask yourself: Are these authors practicing what they preach? You might come up with some interesting answers.

A great resource for you can also be found via Steve Krug. His writings about website usability in general are very reliable.

Another name to look out for is Schneidermann.

Have fun with this topic.

I've read Krug's "Don't make me think" which has completely changed the way I look at the web pages that I visit. Haven't anything by Schneidermann yet but will now, of course, go out and look.

One of my doctoral courses this semester is in action research and I'm finding the parallels between usability testing and action research interesting.
